Identifying Marks: Subject was last seen as clean shaven but is known to grow a full beard and longer hair. Last seen wearing blue jeans and a ball cap, and possibly work boots or tennis shoes.

Circumstances: Hughes was last seen at approximately 9:30 PM in Middlebrook, Virginia, on March 4, 2000, in the company of Timothy Ray Balser. Both subjects were very intoxicated according to one witness. According to Balser, he drove Hughes to White's Truckstop located in Rockbridge County, around 12:00 Midnight on March 4, 2000. They became separated while at the Truckstop and Hughes has not been seen since. Investigators with Rockbridge and Augusta County Sheriff's Offices have not been able to confirm through witness interviews that Balser and Hughes were in White's Truckstop during this time period. Hughes has employment and financial obligations that have gone unattended since the night of March 4, 2000. No family members, friends or co-workers have heard from Hughes since March 4, 2000.
Comments: No destination confirmed. Subjects were riding around Southern Augusta County and Northern Rockbridge County, in Timothy Balser's vehicle, drinking beer.
